Big Hatchet Mountains
Located in southwestern New Mexico, this mountain range is made up of steep and rugged terrain with rolling toe-slopes on all sides of the range. Elevations range from 4,400 feet along the lower toe slopes to 8,366 feet atop Big Hatchet Peak. You can expect to find desert grasses and shrubs in the lower elevations while in the higher elevatlions, piñon, juniper, mountain mahogany, and oak trees abound. These mountains are extremely rugged, isolated, pristine and spectacular. And if you are lucky you may spot desert bighorn sheep that call this mountain range home.
