We thank our many volunteers - like these in Nevada that support our public lands.
It was chilly, overcast day when 38 volunteers planted sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings in the BLM Nevada’s Elko District.
The volunteers represented the Elko District, Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), Nevada Muley’s, Nevada Big Horns Unlimited, Squaw Valley Ranch, Troop 85 Boy Scouts of America and various friends and families ranging in age from 4 to 75-years-old.
The goal was to plant 4,200 sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings to improve winter habitat for mule deer, sage grouse and other species in the 2012 Willow burn area. At the end of the day, the volunteers planted 3,000 seedlings over ten acres of scorched earth.
