Garnet Range Ghost Towns
Montana has been more like Oregon the past few days, but the grey flat light is great for photographing wildflowers and structures. I went out to the Garnet Range east of Missoula where the BLM and a non-profit group have preserved the Montana ghost town - Garnet.
The photos of the dilapidated buildings are in the nearby town of Coloma which has not been restored. Perhaps some of the miners from California moved into this area after the state’s gold rush slowed and named the town after Coloma, California.
The white flowers are beargrass — Montana is having an exceptional beargrass bloom this year, and it’s peaking over the next few weeks.
