Solar Event at Land Hill
Paul Taylor, Land Hill Researcher, is the son of a father archaeologist, and has remained fond of expanding his knowledge, and in turn our knowledge, on this subject matter. After studying the summer and winter solstice and equinox events at Land Hill, within the Santa Clara River Reserve, for five years, he made an interesting observation: the rock writing present was not arbitrarily etched into the stone. On the contrary, he found that the cast shadows during these solar events hit the petroglyphs in a very precise way, following their angles and curves to a tee. Because of this, Paul considers the light to play a major role in the stories these panels tell, and believes that archeo-astronomy should be pursued further to help us understand these panels and others like them.
