Tim Croissant, the St George Field Office Wildlife Biologist, happily pinned a painting, created by his 7 year old daughter Maya, above his desk this morning. “They know what I do,” Tim says referring to his children’s knowledge of the threatened Mojave desert tortoise and the work he does monitoring and protecting them. The painting portrays a tortoise hanging out under the sun and stars, and reads “I like dad,” which we are sure is a sign of recognition from his daughter, but also maybe the tortoise itself?
